Uniform

Priestley Smith School asks that all students wear school uniform. Sweatshirts and polo shirts with the school logo are available to purchase from the school office all year round.

From Reception through to Year 11, we expect all pupils to attend school in uniform.

We know that, for many of our pupils, school uniform is about much more than appearance. Wearing a uniform helps to create a sense of belonging, promotes equality, reduces social pressures, and supports pupils in recognising that they are part of our school community. A consistent approach to uniform also helps pupils prepare for learning and reinforces the high expectations we have for everyone.

As a specialist school, we recognise that some pupils have sensory, physical or other needs that mean adjustments to the standard uniform are necessary. Our uniform policy has been updated to reflect current legislation, and we will always consider reasonable adaptations on an individual basis.

We are also committed to keeping the cost of school uniform as affordable as possible. To support families we:

• Keep compulsory branded items to a minimum.

• Allow plain alternatives where appropriate.

• Offer good quality second-hand uniform through the school office.

• Welcome donations of uniform that children have outgrown so that it can be reused by other families.
