What Could I Do Next?

There is no single pathway after Priestley Smith.

We help pupils and their families understand different possibilities so that decisions can reflect the young person's strengths, aspirations, needs and intended outcomes.

Further Education

Further Education colleges offer a wide range of academic, vocational and life-skills programmes. Pupils are supported to explore courses, entry requirements, accessibility, support and how a particular course connects with their longer-term aspirations.

Specialist Colleges

For some young people, specialist further education may provide an appropriate next step. Pupils and families are supported to explore what specialist providers offer, including curriculum, independence, specialist support, residential arrangements where applicable and preparation for future destinations.

Supported Internships

A supported internship is an employment-focused programme for eligible young people with an EHCP. The main aim is to support progression towards paid employment through substantial time in the workplace alongside appropriate learning and support.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships combine paid employment with training. Pupils interested in apprenticeships are supported to understand different apprenticeship levels, entry requirements, applications and the support that may be available.

Higher Education

For pupils considering university or other higher education, careers support includes exploring courses, entry requirements, accessibility, student support and how higher education connects with longer-term aspirations.

Employment

Pupils considering employment are supported to develop employability skills and understand recruitment, applications, interviews, workplace expectations, reasonable adjustments and available support.
